John Leighton - Glass Artist
|
''I find these glass forms to be strangely familiar, intimate and sensual. They reference fecundity and the cycle of life in the plant world.''
John Leighton is an educator, an artist and a designer all in one. In his most recent glass series, his pieces are in the guise of plants, but not simply representations. The viewer's imagination and expectations of glass are challenged in each piece.
Leighton uses 'opaline' glass which is named for a translucent white glass which, when combined with transparent colors, produces glass with a fiery opalescent quality.
